colorized

here are the colors, its going to be printed on a buff paper, if i can find any in pittsburgh, also i took out the buildings, considering the majority of the physical mills are torn down.

Hot off the drawing board

page 3 of DENIZENS OF DILAPIDATION, i found out there is a scanner in my dad's office that works at 300 dpi, so ill be able to deliver a day by day of my output.

MILL print

digital image for a fictional poster inviting citizens of pittsburgh to walkthrough a steel mill. Text taken from non-fictional poster and re-designed with added illustration.

first scrap print

here is the digital file for the first screen print of the scrap prints. i really like how these trash objects now have a figurative relationship. hopefully i can continue that idea within this series and also possibly stumble onto something new after more drawings are done, scanned and noodled around with. the print will be done on 22x30 paper with black ink

drawing on history

this is a drawing about steel mills and my personal and family histories, the portrait is of john munhall, the founder of munhall, the town my dad grew up in in pittsburgh's steel valley. I am trying to make drawings as final pieces instead of only being objects utilized in preparation. This is also acting as a rough compositional outline for a painting i have just begin. pictures of that after more progression.

knot diagram

an image I found in my grandfather's WWII navy training manual. good inspiration for ways to set up compositions for my scrap prints.

scrap

I sorted through scrap the other day at work and found some very interesting pieces of crushed valves, copper tubing, metal knobs, and discarded tools. I decide to draw all of them, here are some ideas for a print about copper pipes and their shape relationships.
